Fuel reserve requirements
Minimum trip, contingency and reserve fuel under GACAR.
These are the standard fuel components, the exact minima depend on the operation and are set in the applicable GACAR Part (91 / 121 / 135). Confirm there.

| Taxi fuel | Start-up, taxi and APU before take-off. |
| Trip fuel | Departure to destination, climb, cruise, descent and approach. |
| Contingency fuel | Unforeseen factors (often a percentage of trip fuel). |
| Alternate fuel | Missed approach at destination to landing at the alternate. |
| Final reserve fuel | A fixed holding reserve (e.g. 30 / 45 minutes). |
| Additional / discretionary fuel | As required by the operation or the commander. |
