How it works
Correction (ft) ≈ 4 × ISA deviation × (height above the altimeter-setting source ÷ 1,000); true altitude = indicated + correction. Warmer than ISA → you are higher than indicated; colder → lower. An approximation; for terrain-critical cold-weather operations use the AIP/ICAO tables.
